R&K Engineering was founded in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a privately held corporation in July 1984. The founders’ vision was to provide clients with superior support in site development, feasibility studies, master planning, economic analysis, and facilities management.

It was anticipated that expertise in Information Technology (IT) would play an important role in the delivery of these services and the growth of the company, and today customized software development is a major service provided by R&K. Through the combination of functional and technical expertise, R&K Engineering pioneered the use of many automated planning tools for the management of real property.

From the original staff of three, R&K has steadily grown to over eighty employees based in three office locations. Our Corporate Headquarters is located in Roanoke, Virginia where the company was founded. In 1989, the business opened a branch office in Alexandria, Virginia to enhance service to our many clients in the Washington, D.C. region. In 1993, the San Antonio, Texas office was opened in order to support a large local contract and to provide a more centralized location for geographically dispersed master planning support.

In July 2005 R&K Engineering became an Employee-Owned Business. With continued guidance from the founders, the company has transitioned smoothly to an organization of stakeholders whose interests are increasingly vested in the success and satisfaction of our clients. This commitment to our customers has enabled R&K to retain many of our clients for more than twenty years, while steadily expanding our client base. Today, R&K provides world-class products and services to all of the military services, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, other governmental agencies, and private industry clients.
