R&K Engineering has been awarded a five year contract to provide technical and systems support to the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management (ACSIM) Military Construction (MILCON) Division in support of their facility reduction programs. This work involves reviewing submitted demolition plans to ensure the Army is adhering to their policy of “zero growth” involving facilities. To achieve the “zero growth” goal, Army installations that require new construction must offer a corresponding amount of square footage to be demolished.

At this point the value of R&K becomes apparent. R&K maintains a “Demolition Databank” of demolished facilities from all Army installations worldwide. The databank is used to “offset” military construction that is requested without supporting demolition projects. By matching the demolition projects from one site to the military construction at another site R&K can help keep the overall square footage of facilities at zero growth.
